I love nutrition because it literally makes us who we are. The food we eat becomes the cells in our body, so it is important that we are consuming the right foods. I discovered that cooking creates so much opportunity to be creative in the kitchen! This allowed me to invent meals that taste good, look good, and are good for the body.

There is a common misconception that eating healthy is only for individuals who are overweight, who want to build muscle, or who want to look a certain way. Throughout my life I have been told, “You don’t need to eat healthy, look how skinny you are.”  While having a healthy body weight is important, nutrition is not just about appearance! Eating healthy does have a substantial impact on how the body looks, but it also effects how the body functions on the inside. Our cells and organs need proper nutrients to keep us going.

With that being said, nutrition is used to treat and reverse disease. However, I find it even more important to prevent disease! Proper nutrition and lifestyle can lead to a longer life spent doing what you love as opposed to spending the last years of life in a hospital. I know that life is short so I want to ensure that I can live my best and spend the most days with my family.

While I am currently studying Nutrition and Dietetics at New Mexico State University, I developed this website to share recipes, fitness, and lifestyle tips so that others can incorporate healthy habits into their own lives. Enjoy!
