Being Productive - Healthy Habits

I often hear the excuse, “But I don’t have time.” Everyone has the same 24 hours in a day, so here are some tips to help you make the most of it.

Wake up Early

I make an effort to wake up before 7 a.m. every single day (even on weekends). This gives me time to prepare for the day, do some chores around the house, and have time for myself. It is really hard at first, but once your body adjusts, you will find that it puts you in a good mindset and allows to implement other healthy habits.

Write It Down

I am a huge believer in planners and to do lists. If I do not write it down, I forget about it or push it off to the next day. Not only will writing down your daily tasks hold you accountable, but also it allows you to manage your time during the day because you know exactly what you need to get done. I would definitely recommend investing in a planner or even using a notebook.

Avoid Distractions

If you need to be productive, avoid doing things that distract you. For me those things include watching Grey’s Anatomy, or looking through my social media. I avoid doing these things until after I complete my important tasks. If you do need a break, make sure to set a timer or limit yourself to 1 episode of your favorite TV show. Make sure to hold yourself accountable.

Make Goals

Besides to do lists, I also believe in writing daily/weekly goals that you want to work towards in a certain time. This will keep you on track day after day because you are constantly reminding yourself of what you want to accomplish. If you have a larger goal, break it down into smaller goals that you can accomplish every day.

Keep A Clean Space

Make sure to keep a clean space wherever you are. This makes me so much more productive because I can think clearly, and I don't have to worry about being surrounded with clutter. Cleaning does take time, but it is a great way to start the chain reaction of productivity. Every time I finish cleaning, I feel like checking the next item off of my list.

Take It Easy

While I love to be productive every single day, it does wear me out physically and mentally. I have to constantly remind myself to take it easy every now and then. If I am working hard on projects and getting a lot of things done, I try to give myself at least 1 day off a week. It all depends on your deadlines, but it is important to make time for yourself so that you avoid getting run down.
